Fostering values of care and compassion amongst our Scouts through volunteerism is an important area that the Association focuses on. Through serving the community, we hope for our Scouts to gain new perspectives in life and learn to appreciate the efforts put in by key organisations in our community. They each play an important role and their commitment to their cause helps create a better world for all.

Our Scouts will carry out “Service Tasks” under the initiatives of our Charitable Organisation Partners, who would not be receiving the donations collected but instead, be benefiting directly from the work and effort put in by the Scouts.

Food From the Heart

Food from the Heart is a charity that started 17 years ago by founders Christine and Henry Laimer who were inspired to channel surplus food from bakeries to families in need after they read an article about bread wastage. Today, the Food from the Heart is one of Singapore's foremost charitable food distributors that makes a tangible and meaningful contribution to help fight hunger through bread rations and food packs, and bring joy through the distribution of toys and birthday celebrations. In 2019, Food from the Heart made a difference to the lives of 44,600 people throughout Singapore by distributing S$6.23 million worth of food.

Our Scouts will serve with Food From the Heart by assisting them with their food donation drive efforts. They will organise their own food donation drive within their own community to be donated to Food From the Heart. They would also be volunteering at their warehouses to pack those donated food into goodie bags. Those goodies bags would be distributed to various beneficiaries.

these areas. Our Scouts can also take part in coastal cleanup at Kranji Mudflats to help keep one of our last mudflats habitat a safe place for migratory and native biodiversity to thrive.

The Food Bank Singapore

The Food Bank Singapore is a registered charity founded in 2012. Their mission is to end food insecurity in Singapore through the redistribution of food to more than 360 member beneficiary organisations.

Our Scouts will serve with The Food Bank by assisting in warehouse tasks and the collection of “ugly” and rejected fruits and vegetables, which are still good for consumption, from stall owners. Together with the Food Bank team, they will then assist in the distribution of these food items to beneficiaries located in rental flats.

Our Scouts will serve with VSA through their IT workshops for elderly beneficiaries, where Scouts will conduct basic workshops involving the setting up and using of Zoom, Gmail, WhatsApp Web, and so on.
